I hate wedding photography. I don't hate weddings, just the photos. And I didn't hate my own wedding photos or any of my friends’. I hate the wedding portfolios that are featured on just about every photography website or blog. I've been roaming the net, visiting photography sites and blogs for inspiration. And everybody, it seems, does weddings. I suppose it's part and parcel of being a professional photographer, and I respect that. But there’s something off-putting about all those glossy, photoshopped images. They look like they belong in a magazine—not in a good way. I half-expect to see a logo for Korbel or Ritz Crackers in a corner. And every photographer tries to express her own unique “vision” so that there are always some odd pictures that might be considered “arty” but have nothing to do with the wedding. Do the bride and groom have to pay for that? Trash the Dress is marginally more interesting, but I can only take so many shots of this or that bride rolling around in the ocean. Someone watched too many Madonna videos…
